Interactive Maps Using ArcIMS

interactive map screenshot

Our interactive map pages are powered by ESRI's ArcIMS (Arc Internet Map Server) software on a dedicated server. This enables us to set up web pages that have some basic GIS capabilities. Because the GIS functions reside on the server, any user with an ordinary web browser can connect and do an interactive session with the ability to customize the display and query the GIS database.

We have the capacity to create interactive map pages for other organizations. We can create the application according to your specifications, and then host it on our server. The results can even be framed in a way so that the the only web address the user will see is yours.

User-Controlled Maps On Your Web Pages

In some cases, ArcIMS is more than you need. It's possible to create a pretty good splash on your own web page by creating maps where the user can change the map display (for instance, turning on and off a layer) by clicking a button. This can be done by preparing images of the various map displays and then including them in a specially-designed web page that has scripts embedded to control the maps. This approach gives more limited functionality than ArcIMS, but the pages can be hosted on any web server; no special software is needed.
