Hopewell Township streams
The GIS Center digitized the streams of Hopewell Township from a variety of sources,
to support the Township's efforts to put a stream corridor ordinance in place.
The final version of the ordinance uses a 150-foot buffer from the stream centerlines.
GIS users who wish to
download the data
for the centerlines and the buffer are welcome to.
(Hopewell Township is the official custodian of that
data, but we are making it available here.)
Raritan Basin Critical Areas
As part of the
Raritan Basin Project, a stakeholder committee
developed a set of criteria that could be used to evaluate and compare the importance
of different areas of open space in protecting water resources. Based on these criteria,
a GIS analysis was performed to rank all the undeveloped land areas in the Raritan
Basin. A
report describing that process is available. We are featuring that map layer on the
municipal and watershed maps on our
interactive mapping page. GIS users are also
welcome to download a
shapefile
of the data. Please note, the zip archive containing the shapefile is large (12 megabytes).
If that size proves troublesome for you to download, you may wish to contact Jen Zhang
(e-mail jzhang(at)raritanbasin.org or phone 732-356-9344) to request the data on a CD.
