Home > Interactive Maps
Welcome. We have put together a set of pages
that have interactive maps where you can zoom in on what you want to
see, turn layers on and off, and do some simple GIS operations using
an ordinary web browser. Before you jump to the
map pages, read a couple of notes about
how to use the map viewer. We have redesigned the viewer to make it easier to understand.
Please let us know what you think.
StreamWatch - Visual Assessment.
Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed residents can now easily identify if a stream near
them is in our
River Action Teams (RAT) Program. Do an address search or simply zoom in to check out
which streams are not walked and are in the program and call us to sign up as a RAT Beat volunteer.
Call 609-737-3735 to volunteer.
Aerial Photos
By tapping into the NJGIN servers, we've added
the option for you to see aerial photos behind the map layers in
the municipal and watershed maps.
It slows things down a bit, so first you get a map without them. But after the map draws,
you'll see a link near the bottom left that will redraw the map with the aerials
as a layer you can turn on and off. It's best to zoom in on what you want to see
before you turn on the aerial photo.
Address Search:
In the municipal and watershed maps,
we've added the ability to (approximately) locate a point by typing in a street address
and zip code. After the map draws, just use the "Find Address" button.
Fast Track: In order to help
everyone visualize what areas are covered by the Fast Track environmental
legislation, we have an
interactive map of it. There are a few additional
areas that are included in the legislation but not portrayed on the map, because
the boundaries are not available in a GIS format. (These are the "areas in need
of redevelopment.") In addition, it's not completely clear just which areas
in the Pinelands will be covered. We've included the "Regional Growth Areas"
but not Pinelands Towns or Pinelands Villages.
