GIS Equipment and Software

The bulk of our GIS work is carried out using ArcGIS (ArcView and ArcInfo) GIS software on PC workstations. We have a variety of printers, including a 36" inkjet plotter, and a mapping-grade Trimble Pathfinder Pro XR Global Positioning System (GPS) unit.

Web-Based Mapping

The GIS Center is connected to the Internet with a full-time, high-speed (T1) internet connection, which enables us to host our own servers on the premises. We use a Sun Enterprise server and ArcIMS software to host our interactive, web-based maps.

GIS Data Library

We maintain an extensive library of GIS data for New Jersey from the data producers that we have identified as the best sources for each data set. Our data inventory is continually updated to ensure that we are prepared for projects as they come up.
